FAQs relating to basement pump servicing
We recognise that you may have a number of questions to ask when considering what to do and who to use for your basement pump servicing. We have put together a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you. If you have a question that isn’t on the list below please feel free to give us a call us on 0800 019 9949
Q. How often should pump servicing be carried out ?
A. A majority of basement systems will require a service only once a year. However pumps in certain areas may benefit from more frequent servicing – e.g. high limescale areas.
Q. Do we have to have our system serviced ?
A. Provided that regular pump servicing is not a condition of your guarantee or insurance the decision is entirely up to you. If annual servicing is a condition your guarantee may be invalid should you not have it carried out.
Q. How long does a ‘Clean & Check’ service take ?
A. A ‘Clean & Check’ takes between 1 and 2 hours depending on the number of sump and pump units in the property.
Q. Do I need to contact you to find out when a ‘Clean & Check’ service is due ?
A. If you sign up to an annual ‘Clean & Check’ service we will remind you when the service is due and arrange a convenient time for the service.
Q. What should I do if the alarm system of the sump and pump unit has triggered ?
A. Contact the Basement Sump & Pump Co on 0800 019 9949 for advice.
Q. When should we have our first ‘Clean & Check’ service carried out ?
A. It is suggested that an initial service is carried out within 6 months of the installation. This is because during the installation of the sump and pump units there will have been some concreting works. This results in the pumps been subjected to high limescale deposits due to free lime leaching out of the concrete during the first few months. Lime scale can badly affect the performance of the system and needs to be removed as soon as possible.
